Words of Wisdom

×´I know how overwhelming healthcare can feel, and I believe everyone deserves support that truly centers their needs. My goal is to walk alongside you — offering guidance that brings clarity to your care and confidence to the decisions you make.×´

About Dr. Adaeze Iroka

I founded EmpoWell Advocacy and Care Management to provide the kind of support I know patients and families often need—but don’t always have.

I am a Naturopathic Doctor, Board-Certified Patient Advocate, and hold a Master of Public Health. My work sits at the intersection of clinical insight, systems-level thinking, and real-world care navigation. I help individuals and families understand complex medical information, coordinate care, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

My approach is grounded in a simple belief: patients deserve to feel informed, supported, and empowered—especially when facing chronic or complex conditions. I focus on education, organization, and communication so clients can better understand their options and actively participate in their care.

Before starting this practice, I worked as a case manager and support coordinator for individuals with developmental disabilities. That experience strengthened my ability to navigate fragmented systems, coordinate across providers, and advocate for individuals and families with complex needs.

This work is also deeply personal. When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I saw firsthand how overwhelming the healthcare system can be. Today, I support my father in navigating his care—an experience that continues to shape how I show up for my clients. I created EmpoWell to be the resource I wish my family had.

My role is not to replace your voice—but to support it. Whether that means helping you ask better questions, organizing information, or ensuring your concerns are heard, the goal is the same: to help you navigate the healthcare system with greater clarity, confidence, and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a patient advocate?

A patient advocate is a professional who helps individuals and families navigate the complexities of today’s healthcare system with clarity, confidence, and support. When medical situations feel overwhelming, a patient advocate becomes your steady guide — making sure your voice is heard, your rights are protected, and your care aligns with what matters most to you.

What can I expect during a patient advocacy session?

Working with EmpoWell Advocacy and Care Management is a structured, supportive, and collaborative process designed to bring clarity to complex healthcare situations.

1. Initial Intake & Assessment
We begin with a comprehensive intake session to understand your medical history, current concerns, and goals. This helps identify priorities and determine how advocacy and care coordination can best support you.

2. Personalized Plan of Support
Based on your needs, a tailored approach is developed. This may include appointment preparation, medical record organization, care coordination, and support in understanding diagnoses and treatment options.

3. Ongoing Advocacy & Care Coordination
Support is provided through scheduled sessions and ongoing communication, depending on your selected service package. This may involve coordinating with healthcare providers (with your authorization), organizing information, and assisting with follow-up and next steps.

4. Clear Communication & Boundaries
Communication is professional and structured, with defined response times and availability. This ensures expectations are clear and support remains consistent.

5. Non-Clinical, Client-Centered Support
Services are educational, organizational, and advocacy-based. EmpoWell does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment but helps you navigate the healthcare system more effectively.

6. Empowerment Through Education
The goal is to help you feel more confident and informed in your care. Over time, you will gain the tools to ask better questions, understand your options, and advocate for yourself.

Every client’s situation is unique, but the focus remains the same: helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and support.

Do you provide medical advice?

No. EmpoWell Advocacy & Care Management does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All medical decisions, recommendations, and clinical guidance must come from your licensed healthcare providers.

My role as a patient advocate is to help you:

  • Understand the information your providers share

  • Prepare for appointments and ask informed questions

  • Organize your medical records and care plans

  • Navigate the healthcare system with clarity and confidence

  • Communicate effectively with your care team

I support you in making informed decisions, but I do not replace your doctor or any other medical professional.

Do you replace my doctor?

No. EmpoWell Advocacy & Care Management does not replace your doctor or any other licensed healthcare provider. Your medical team is responsible for diagnosing conditions, providing treatment, and making clinical recommendations. I help you make informed decisions based on the guidance of your licensed providers.

Think of me as an independent support partner — someone who helps you stay informed, organized, and empowered — while your medical team continues to lead your clinical care.

Do you handle emergencies?

No. EmpoWell Advocacy & Care Management does not provide emergency services or urgent medical response. I do not monitor messages in real time, and I cannot respond to crisis situations, urgent medical concerns, or time‑sensitive health needs.

For any emergency, you should:

  • Call 911

  • Go to the nearest emergency room

  • Contact your licensed healthcare provider for urgent medical advice

My role is to support you with non‑emergency advocacy and care coordination — helping you stay organized, prepared, and informed as you navigate the healthcare system. I’m here to guide you, but I cannot replace emergency medical care or crisis response.
